Systematic monitoring of work accidents’ rate of OSH MS certified companies / A method to verify the efficiency of Inail prevention policy

National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (Inail), the Italian Institute who runs the insurance against accidents at work, has supported the adoption of Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSH MS) in Italian companies since 2001. In order to verify if support to OH&S MS and the relevant use of public funds brings social benefits, Inail regularly monitors the efficacy of its policies calculating the difference between the injury index in a certified company with the rest of Italian companies. This comparison has been conducted in 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2023 showing in all cases significant reduction.
